Lily Mae Reed Martin, of Castroville, passed away on September 18, 2020 at the age of 84 years. She was born June 20, 1936 in New Albany, Indiana to Joseph Edward Reed and Evelyn Mae Ginkins Reed. On August 26, 1955, Lily married Julian Martin in New Albany, Indiana. They celebrated sixty-four years of marriage a few months before Julian passed away in 2019. Lily went to Business College in Amarillo and worked for the City of Amarillo in the Water Department from 1970 to 1980. She then went to work at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, along with her husband, in the food service department. She and Julian would supervise the boys in the dining room. Lily and Julian moved to Castroville in 1995 to be closer to their grandkids and family. She enjoyed spending her time growing house plants. She also loved animals and hummingbirds were one of her favorites.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Marsha Martin of Castroville; daughter, Linda Martin of Hondo; grandchildren, Derek Martin (Jennifer) and Candra Thomas (Billy); five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Jo Boatman and Edwina Faye Guinn both of Amarillo. Lily was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Julian Martin; brother, Alfred Lee Reed and sister, Rose Marie Reed Wallace.
