Leon William Eldridge, 79, of Amarillo passed from this life on Thursday, April 11, 2019. A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Friday April 19, 2019 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter Road.
Leon was born on May 14, 1939 in Delhi, Oklahoma to William Rufus and Treasure Mae (Kenyon) Eldridge.
He grew up in Delhi, Oklahoma where he graduated from Delhi High School in 1958. After high school, he attended Sayre Junior College and Southwestern Oklahoma State University, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Education. Leon taught Physical Education in Borger, Texas from 1964 until 1974. He later worked for Phillips Petroleum as Oil Field Operator until his retirement in 2006. He enjoyed cars, guns and spending time on the farm in Wheeler, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Everett Eldridge.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Derrick Eldridge, of Pampa, and Tate Eldridge and wife, Keri of Canyon; five grandchildren, Mattie Eldridge, Mason Eldridge, both of Amarillo, Elise Eldridge, Tristan Eldridge, both of Canyon, and Jaclyn Godfrey and husband, Truman, of Salisbury, North Carolina; a sister, Carol Lowry and husband, Jerry of Dumas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
