Lee Evelyn Witt

Lee Evelyn Echols Witt passed away on April 11, 2011 at St. Ann's Nursing Home in Panhandle, TX.

Mrs. Witt was born January 24, 1924 in Rochester, TX  to Leoniel And Era Warren Echols.  She moved to Amarillo at an early age and graduated Amarillo High School in 1941.  She married J.C. Witt Nov. 6,1945.  She had been a secretary at Dunn and Bradstreet and Western National Life. Lee was a “people person” who loved her church, her family and especially her grandchildren.  Lee loved to read her Bible and spiritual books and was a devoted Christian.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday April 14, 2011 in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road with Archie Hunnicutt officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Felty and husband Mike of Amarillo. Her son,  Bart Witt and wife Lorri of Amarillo.  Grandchildren, Elizabeth McKinley of Mississippi, Jeremy Witt of Dallas,  and Lori Felty Lara, Cory Felty  wife Mary, Donny Witt, Chris Witt, Jessica Alvardo and Veronique Witt all of Amarillo, 16 Great-Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to St. Ann’s Nursing Home in Panhandle and to Odyssey Hospice.  The family suggests memorials be to Hillcrest Baptist Church 2901 Martin Road Amarillo, TX  79107.

Mrs. Witt will be in state at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel from noon until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday April 13, 2011.
