Laverne Dunavin, 90, of Amarillo passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Minister Loran Harper officiating.
Laverne was born in Electra, Texas on December 13, 1929 to Elba and Anna Walker. She married the love of her life Bobby Lee Dunavin Sr. on April 22, 1946 in Vernon, Texas and spent the next 74 years with him. Laverne loved to bake and was always gifting people goodies she had made. She practiced as a teacher for many years at East Amarillo Montessori School. Laverne was a proud member of the Church of Christ. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elba and Anna Walker; her sisters, Joyce Tucker and Erline Walker and her brother, Michael Walker.
Laverne is survived by her husband, Bobby Lee Dunavin Sr.; her daughter, Sherry Young and husband Tommy; her sons, Rusty Dunavin and wife Rena and Michael Dunavin and wife Debbie; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Kenneth Walker; her sister, Pauline Richardson and numerous nieces and nephews.
