Laverda Imogene Steele Hughes, 90, of Amarillo died on Saturday, December 20, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Pastor Sam White of the North Plains Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Laverda was born on February 6, 1924 in Imperial, Nebraska to David and Helen Steele. Laverda married Doyle Hughes on October 1, 1998 in Las Vegas, NV. Laverda loved and was very active in her church and sang in the church choir. She loved to play cards and sew. She also liked all outdoor sports, but most of all, Laverda loved her family and spending time with them and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Theodore Gluszek, her second husband Lewis Doyle"Step" Daniels, four sisters, Darlene Berg, Margie Lewis, Detta Fears and Shirley Daniels; two brothers, Joy Steele and Delwin Kay Steele; a son Roger Daniels; a step daughter Margaret Williams; a grandson, Doug Chance; and a step granddaughter Jessica Bouillion.

She is survived by her husband, Doyle Hughes; a daughter, Eloise Gluszek of Amarillo; a son, David Daniels and wife Dawna of Amarillo; three step daughters, Linda Felder and husband Jeff of Port Arthur, Betty Poplin of Groves and Jean Heubach and husband Carl of Nederland; fifteen grandchildren; forty four great grandchildren and seventeen great-great grandchildren and on the way, one great grandchild and two great-great grandchildren.
