June Christerson Rhoton died in her home on July 19, 2016 in Amarillo at the age of 93.
Memorial services will be at 2pm Friday, July 22, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home, Coulter Road Chapel, with Pastor Bob Miller officiating. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors.
June was born on June 12, 1923 in Sedan, New Mexico, to William Kindell “Casey” and Bama Faye (Jack) Christerson. June graduated from high school in Clayton, N.M., and beauty school in Amarillo. June and her husband, Charles F. Rhoton, Jr., raised three children on their farm in Keyes, Okla., where Charles was the postmaster for many years. June operated a beauty salon for several years, and was active in the Oklahoma Republican Party. June enjoyed painting and sewing. She always loved animals, from the horses of her youth to the beloved dogs and cats of her later life.
June is survived by her children, Peggy (Larry) Begley of Boise City, Okla., Kendall (Barbara) Rhoton of Enid, Okla., and Henry (Letha) Rhoton of Amarillo; her granddaughter Myna (David) Chang and great-grandson David Chang of Potomac, Maryland; and sister Doris Jones of Dumas, Texas. June is preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Rhoton, Jr., of Keyes, Okla.; and sisters Joyce Smith of Dumas, Texas, and Christine Hines of Loveland, Colorado.
