Lasoy Sivixay was born on September 1, 1944 in the Ban Sikhai province located in the capital of Vientiane, Laos to Mouk and Bu Sivixay. For the sake of real freedom  and a better life for her children, Lasoy bid farewell to home country of Laos, and set off to America during the 1980's and has resided in Amarillo since. Hard working, loving, and passionate are just a few of the words that can accurately describe how astounding of a person Lasoy was to her friends and family.Whatever Lasoy did or put her mind to , she gave it her all. Her perseverance through everything and anything was always 100% no matter the task at hand.

During her time here on earth, Lasoy owned and operated Yong Yee Video Store. Lasoy ran her business as if she was a "one woman show." She was her own boss, and when it came to business, she was ahead in many ways. From rewinding video cassette tapes all on her own, to ordering products overseas for her customers, she did it all. Not often do we see and even meet an individual with such a beautiful soul as Lasoy. Her generous donations, whether it was to support her grand nephew Justin and niece Kelly's fundraisers at Palo Duro or to be one of the founding members of the newly builtLaotian based Buddhist temple "Wat Lao Phouttasamakheetam" located at 2713 N. Eastern St., she always believed that service to others and giving back was the real key to happiness. Although she will never get to see the temple's final form, she will always be honored and remembered as one of it's greatest first members. We believe that without her, who was perceived as the "foundation and base" of the temple, there would not be one today. One of the promises her grand niece Kelly made to her before she passed was to make the temple's first ever Lao New Year happen. Kelly has not forgotten that promise, and has already found peers to help her with the dancing and other needed preparations. Lasoy's dream of having a Lao New Year celebration for her temple will become a reality on Sunday, April 19, 2015.

What made her life even more fulfilling was when she was able to see her healthy first grandson, Jaxon "Quai-Ching" Sivixay-Chanthavong come into the world on February 25, 2015. Her grandson became her new found light, and no matter how many times the family told her to sit down and rest, she refused and still held her grandson regardless. Even when he made the slightest little whimper, his parents did not worry because his amazing "super grandma" was there to the rescue. Baby Jaxon was her true pride and joy, and for her to be able to see his birth before her death, was the real highlight of her life.

Buddha once said,"Even death is not to be feared by those that lived wisely." This quote alone can describe Lasoy's lifetime on Earth. She did not fear death, and knew that her family would be well taken care of even when she departed. We believe that the Heavens up above have something more grand in store for her, and is waiting for the arrival of their new angel.

Lasoy, who was the always surrounded by love, will still be surrounded in this loving aura as we honor her one last time on Saturday, April 4, 2015. She believed there was kindness in everyone, and always knew that "lady luck" was on her side no matter where she went. Lasoy was the youngest of nine children and was deeply loved by everyone in her big family.

Lasoy was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Kongmy Sivixay, Bou Sivixay, Phou Minakhom, Phat Ladpakdy and Hut Viengkhamkeo and her loving "baby" dog Boogie Sivixay.

She is survived by two daughters, Tui Sivixay and husband Sook of Seattle and "Yong Yee" Sivixay and husband Chris Chanthavong of Amarillo; a sister, Kongkham Sananikone of Amarillo; two brothers, Ngeun of Laos and Pheng Sivixay of Amarillo and her first born baby grandson, Jaxon.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to BSA Hospice and the friends and friends for their kindness shown to the Sivixay family.
