Kristen Alexis Garcia, 20, of Amarillo, died on Monday, June 2, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2014 at Comanche Trail Church of Christ with Pastor Loran Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Kristen was born on April 8, 1994 to Omar and Amy Garcia. Kristen graduated from Amarillo High School in 2012 with Honors where she also played softball for the Lady Sandies. After graduating, Kristen attended Amarillo College and worked for Pak-A-Sak and Cary's Creations. At Cary's Creations, she was learning to make all styles of welder's hats especially white hats that were shipped to the troops in Afghanistan. Kristen was a very active in her youth group at church and went on several mission trips where she could serve others. Kristen was a very loving and caring person to everybody that she met and was very self reliant to the point of trying to repair her own car. Kristen loved her dog "Manny" and spending time with her brother Nikolas and sister Nicole and her entire family.
She is survived by her parents, a brother Nikolas, a sister Nicole, all of the home; her grandparents, Ramon Garcia and wife Elida, Fern Cary and husband Joby, all of Amarillo and Dan McDonald of Wolfe City, Tx; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 5:30 - 7:30 pm, Thursday, June 5, 2014.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the High Plains Children's Home, 11461 S. Western, Amarillo, Texas 79118
