Khammek Kongdara

Khammek Kongdara, 82, of Amarillo passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023. Khammek was born on May 6, 1940 in Laos. She married the love of her life, Chithanong Kongdara in 1966 and migrated to the United States in 1980, settling down in Amarillo. She worked at Tyson until retiring after 27 years. Khammek was a member of the Wat Lao Buddharam of Amarillo. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family and always cooking up a big meal for everyone. She will be greatly missed by families and friends, and we will carry forward many treasured memories.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Moon and Laone Chanthapanya, her husband, Chithanong Kongdara, one brother, Vong Chanthapanya, and one sister, Mak Chanthapanya.

Khammek is survived by four sons, Thanongmek Kongdara and wife Mali, Thanongneth Kongdara, Thanongdeth Kongdara, Thanongsack Kongdara and wife April, two daughters, Christal Miller and Khammanihack Kongdara, eleven grandchildren, Brendan, Tanner, Jayden, Kaitlyn, Sydney, Tara, Austin, Baylee, Skylar, Mason, Kadyn, and many nieces and nephews.
