Kemmy Don Coleman, 69, of Amarillo, passed into his heavenly home on October 15, 2024. Don was born to Roland Coleman and Linda Luman on March 3, 1955, in Dumas, Texas. Known for his mischievous spirit, he often delighted in teasing his sisters, Donna and Brenda, during his childhood spent in Dalhart and Dumas. In 1976, Don enlisted in the United States Navy, serving honorably aboard the USS Saratoga as an aircraft ordnance man.
A lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, Don cherished his rides, particularly with his beloved “girlfriend,” a 2003 Screaming Eagle Road King named “Goldie.” His adventurous spirit led him on countless journeys through the mountains and across the country, with memories to match the miles.
On May 31, 1987, Don became a father to his son, Zack. While he could be described as goofy, hardworking, and adventurous, the word that best encapsulated him was "amazing father." Despite his demanding schedule as a truck driver, Don never missed a football game, powerlifting meet, or any significant event in Zack's life. He provided unwavering support—financially, emotionally, and spiritually—while also allowing Zack the freedom to grow. Known for his playful antics, Don took every opportunity to tease his son and later his two granddaughters, leaving a legacy of love and laughter.
As a grandfather, Don continued to shine. He taught Zack the importance of allowing his daughters' room to grow and learn from their mistakes. Whether enjoying lunch at Taco Villa, exploring Red River, or riding in his ATV, Don created cherished moments with his granddaughters, McKenzie and Ashlynn, establishing himself as a remarkable grandfather.
Don was raised in a Christian home, and throughout his life, his relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ deepened profoundly. He served his church faithfully as an elder and was always eager to lend a hand, taking on various tasks to support the community. Don would often take Mckenzie, Ashlynn, and any friend they had over that weekend to church on Sunday due to Zack's unpredictable railroad schedule.
This obituary could be 500 pages long filled with stories of Don’s antics and amazing sense of humor. Don was a one-of-a-kind person who lived a full life filled with unconditional love for his family, friends and even strangers. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Don is reunited in heaven with his grandparents, Ernest and Dorcus Slape; his parents, Roland Coleman and Linda Luman; his sister, Brenda Coleman; and his great-niece, Fawn.
He is survived by his sister, Donna King; his son, Zack Coleman; his daughter-in-law, Sara Coleman; his granddaughters, McKenzie and Ashlynn Coleman; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives he touched profoundly.
