Kelly David Locke, 64, of Amarillo died on Thursday, August 25, 2016. Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with pastor Bob Miller, officiating. Arrangements by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Street.
Kelly was born on September 3, 1951 in Shamrock, Texas to William and Wanda Locke. He graduated from Stinnett High School on May 22, 1970. He worked in the oil field with his father before going into law enforcement. Kelly served his community as Chief of Police of Shamrock later as a deputy with Hutchinson County. Kelly moved to Amarillo in 1982. He was an avid John Wayne fan, a cowboy at heart, a coffee drinker that met his buddies every morning for coffee. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, W. H. (Dub) Locke, an aunt Dortha Nell and a grandson Casey Ford.
He is survived by his mother, Wanda Locke; his life partner, Billie Welty; his children, John Locke and wife, Robbie, Gary Locke and wife Carla and Amanda Evans and husband Tommy; two step sons, Mike Welty and wife Vicki and Troy Welty; three brothers Colin Locke, Kevin Locke and Shannon Locke; a sister, Peggy Koehler; an aunt, Barbara Ferrell; a uncle, Don Gipson and 16 grandchildren.
