Karl Steinmetz, 81, ofAmarillo died on Monday, February 13, 2017. Celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, February 17, 2017 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Road.
Karl was born on July 14, 1935 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to James and Mildred Steinmetz. He joined the United States Air Force on October 31, 1956 and was honorably discharged on November 3, 1960. He married Margaret Brandenburg on August 25, 1963 in Amarillo. Karl worked as a mechanic and welder where he retired from Roberts Truck Center. He enjoyed reading Louis Lamar books.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, six brothers and a sister.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret; a daughter, Holly Steele and husband, Thomas; stepchildren, Charmaina O'Halloran and husband, Terry, Charles Brandenburg and wife Billie and Alan Cole; four grandchildren, Chastity Steele, Thomas Steele, Jr. Phillip Steele and Christopher Burnham; and six great grandchildren with two more on the way.
The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Arsenault and the Harrington Cancer Center for the care they gave to Mr. Steinmetz.
The family will receive guest on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:30 at the funeral home.
