Juanita Mattice

April 11, 1924 — June 10, 2011

Mrs. Juanita Mattice, 87 of Amarillo passed away on June 10,2011.

Graveside Services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday June 13, 2011 at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Murray Gossett, Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church officiating.

Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Road Chapel.

.Juanita was born on the family farm near Dimmitt and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1942.  She moved to Amarillo in 1943 and attended Business College.  After graduation she went to work for Thompson King Insurance Co. and sold insurance and did contract work.  She met Vernon Mattice in May of 1945 and they were married at the First Presbyterian Church Feb. 11, 1948.  Juanita was a long time member of Beta Sigma Phi and was President of the city council for a number of years.  Juanita loved her Church and her family and especially her grandchildren. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed their summer home in Colorado.  She loved fishing and was a very intelligent and energetic person.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Her survivors include her husband, Vernon Mattice of the home in Amarillo; one son: Robert A. Mattice and wife Rosemary of New Braunfels, Texas; one Daughter, Cynthia Lea Church and Husband Richard of Bedford, Texas; one Brother Raymond Crum and wife Idella of Dalhart, Texas; and three grandchildren,  Zachary King, Robert Mattice Jr. and Amy Mattice Heilhecker;  and two great-grandchildren;  Lillie and Noah Heilhecker.

Mrs.Mattice will be available for viewing Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter Rd. in Amarillo, TX.
