Juan R. Saavedra

Juan R. Saavedra, 90, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Nov 28, 2018.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall. 701 Quail Creek Dr.

Juan was born August 13, 1928 to Pablo and Ines Saavedra, in Saltillo, Coahuila Mexico. Juan married the love of his life Lupe Sanchez on September 15, 1951 in Monterrey, Mexico. They moved to Amarillo, TX in 1965, together they had 6 children.

Juan became a citizen of the United States to provide a better life for his family. He worked for Zanchettin Brothers flooring company for 50 years. After retirement he continued to work self contracted jobs until he was 89. His greatest passion was singing for all his friends and family. He would never pass an opportunity to share his gift with those around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years Lupe Saavedra of Amarillo, four sons, Steve and wife Ruby, Joe and wife Joann, George, and John and wife Nanette, all of Amarillo, two daughters, Jovita and husband Felipe Flores, of Amarillo, Michelle and husband Fernando Rosas, of Plainview; 18 Grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, and 1 sister Mercedes Saavedra of Saltillo, Mexico.
