Juan Alvarado, 64, of Amarillo died on Thursday, September 1, 2016. Rosary will be said at 4:00 pm Monday, September 5, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Scott Raef as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery East with Military Honors by Volleys for Veterans. Arrangements by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S Coulter St.
Juan Alvarado was born on December 15, 1951 in San Juan, TX to Pedro and Magdalena Alvarado. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Juan worked for Southwestern Bell and AT&T for thirty two years until he retired in 2007 and was the leader of the labor union. Juan was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was very involved in all activities at St. Mary's and was a third degree knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer who loved to play every chance he got with his standing tee time buddies. Juan worked as a funeral ambassador for LaGrone Blackburn Shaw and could always be counted on to help any way and was always about the care of the families. Juan was an extraordinary handyman and there was not a task he would not take on. Juan believed in four things; Church, Family, Golf and the Dallas Cowboys. Juan loved the Lord and his family and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Pedro Alvarado; a brother, Rodrigo Trevino and his step father Romulo Trevino.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennie van Wagner and husband Greg; his mother, Magdalena Trevino; three brothers; four sisters; five grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
