Joyce Jeanette Jones

Joyce Jeanette" Jenny" Jones 82 of Amarillo, passed away on Monday June 2, 2014. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday June 5, 2013 at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Amarillo with Rev. Rick Harrison of Hillcrest Baptist Church officiating. Services are under the direction of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, Amarillo, Texas. BuriaL will be at 4pm  in Dozier Cemetery.

Joyce was born on August 8, 1931 in Wheeler County unto Jesse Alvin and Pansy Inez Jarrard Young. She graduated from Samnorwood High School and was a star basketball player. Her high school team won nationals winning over the Wayland Flying Queens.  She married James Paul Jones on August 5, 1949 and later they moved to Amarillo in October of 1956. Joyce was an avid bowler and a member of Trinity Baptist Church and later transferred her membership to Hillcrest Baptist Church in Amarillo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers Charles, Johnny and James Glenn Young.

Survivors include her son Ken Jones of Amarillo, a daughter Paula Midkiff of Burleson, two sisters Ronetta Miller of Amarillo, Anna Ruth Childers of Tulia, two brothers Jesse Dale Young of Dumas and Joel Dean Young of Amarillo.  one grandson Michael Midkiff of Burleson  and one great grandchild Caden Midkiff also of Burleson.
