Jose was born on September 27, 1984 to Antonio Perez and Maria Consuelo Salazar Zavala in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He graduated from Secundaria Technica #28 and was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church in Amarillo. Jose worked for Coast to Coast Carports for 12 years and was one of their main installers. He was a hard worker who always cared for his family. He always strived to set a good example for his family and friends. Jose was a loving husband, son, father and brother and will be missed by everyone and will always be remembered by his family and will be in their hearts forever.
Survivors include his parents; his wife Joanna Zuniga, a daughter Aracely Mireya Arzabala-Cerda; a son Luis Julian Cerda Zuniga; four sisters: Edith Cerda-Salazar, Avalaura Cerda-Salazar, Teresa Cerda-Salazar and Rosa Maria Cerda-Salazar; and five brothers: Gavino Cerda-Salazar, Jose Cruz Cerda-Salazar, Andres Cerda-Salazar, Antonio Cerda-Salazar, Juan Alberto Cerda-Salazar and Guadalupe Cerda-Zalazar.
