Jonathan "Johnny" Joey Mendoza

Jonathan "Johnny" J. Mendoza, 35, of Amarillo passed from this life on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm on Sunday, August 5, 2018 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 6, 2018 in St. Laurence Catholic Church with Father Shane Wieck as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.

Johnny was born on June 10. 1983 in Sterling, Colorado to Stephen and Yolanda Garcia. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Amarillo where he attended Horace Mann Middle School and Caprock High School. He worked as a welder. Johnny loved playing the accordion, singing, fishing and making everyone smile. He was a "Die Hard" Cowboy fan and enjoyed playing softball with Victory Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Garcia, grandmother, Mellie Aragon, and uncle, John Pete Garcia.

Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Yolanda Garcia; 3 sons, Ace Garcia, Izaiah Mendoza, Isaac Escobedo; a daughter, Amelia Grace Garcia; brother, Arsenio Garcia and wife Kasandra; sister, Melissa Salinas and husband, Ceasar , Brittany Garcia and Mercedes Garcia; grandparents, Nieves and Priscilla Mendoza of Hereford, and Joe Garcia of Amarillo, nephews, Braeylin Sims and Ceasar Salinas; niece, Arykah Salinas and numerous other loving family members.

Viewing will begin on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 2:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
