John Franklin Street, 68, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Cathedral with Monsignor Joe Bixenman as celebrant. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Road.
John was born on July 21, 1950 in Amarillo, Texas to James and Valentia Street. He grew up in Amarillo where he graduated from high school. He joined the United States Army on September 5, 1968 , serving in Vietnam. John served his country proudly and retired after 20 years of service on September 30, 1989. He married Josette Dubiel on March 25, 2011 in Dumas, Texas. After retirement he worked briefly as a security officer before becoming an correctional officer at the TDCJ Correctional Unit in Dalhart. He enjoyed wrestling, going to casinos and listening to Elvis.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Street, son, John F. Street, Jr. and brother, James Street.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Josette Street; mother, Valentia Street; daughter, Col. Tina Kirkpatrick; and stepson, Chase Dubiel.
