John "Gene" Spradling

John "Gene" Spradling, age 89, of Amarillo passed away on December 14, 2013. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. in First Baptist Church, Hartford, Arkansas on Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Burial will follow in Hartford Memorial Cemetery.
Gene was born on June 10, 1924 in Hartford, Arkansas to Eugene and Audie Spradling. He graduated as his class Salutatorian from Hartford High School in 1942. He married the love of his life, Wilma on July 28, 1946. Gene proudly served his country in the Army during WWII in the South Pacific. After honorable discharge, he was a grocery salesman for 27 years and then sold insurance for American National for 14 years. Gene lived in Roswell, NM for 52 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Roswell prior to moving to Amarillo. He is a member of Trinity Baptist in Amarillo. Gene adored his kids and grandkids and loved spending time with them. Gene also loved the Arkansas Razorbacks and is at home calling the hogs! "Woooooooo. Pig. Soooie!"
He is survived by one daughter, Debbie Molby and husband Kelvin of Odessa, TX; three sons, Bob Spradling and wife Jeanne of Carrollton, TX, Tom Spradling and wife Donna of Waxahachie, TX and John Spradling and wife Kel of Amarillo. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Wilma and two brothers Elmer and Pete Spradling.
