John Joseph Solano

John J. Solano, 91, of Amarillo died on Thursday, March 17, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, March 21, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Pastor Jim Fox officiating, burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Military Honors are by Volley for Veterans. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
John was born on May 12, 1924 in Dalhart, TX to Eloy and Lucianita Solano. John proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the Military Police. He married the love of his life, Dolores Fajardo "Red" on April 18, 1949 in Santa Rosa, NM. John was a mechanic for ICX (Illinois California Express) Motor Freight and was a very dedicated employee, never missing a day of work. John had a love of music and was an accomplished guitar player who loved to sing. He loved people, was a very compassionate man who had a smile that would light up a room and everyone loved to be around. John always had a joke ready and was known for his special notes written on any of the cards you received from him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life, Dolores Solano "Red", three brothers and six sisters.
He is survived by his son, Andy Solano and a daughter, Lorraine Pritchett and husband Palm, all of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Steve Solano and wife Macey, Taylor Pritchett, both of Amarillo and Lauren Convers and husband Juan of Dallas and two great grandchildren, Karsten and Emerson Solano of Amarillo; a sister, Edna Dominguez of Amarillo and Danny Boy, the canary.
The family would like to give a very special and heartfelt thanks to Cathy Campbell, Angela Pulido and Sergio Salazar for all of their love and support given to John, they are family.
The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Sunday, March 20, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.
