John Wade Shrewsbury

April 7, 1949 — November 18, 2018

John Wade Shrewsbury, 69, of Amarillo passed from this life on Sunday, November 18, 2018. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in Bethel Baptist Church, 1925 W. 10th St., Canyon, Texas. A private family burial was held in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are under personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.

Wade was born on April 7, 1949 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Raymond and Dorothy Shrewsbury. He married Debra Sue Scott on March 17, 1979 in Amarillo. Wade worked as a housekeeping supervisor at St. Anthony Hospital. He enjoyed reading and was a member of HAM Radio Club with his call name being WA5DKD.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his children's mother, Debra Sue Shrewsbury, who always held a special place in his heart.

Left to cherish his memory is a son, Robert Shrewsbury and wife, Victoria; a daughter, Kimberly Shrewsbury and husband, Xavier Villalon; three grandchildren, Quenton Robert Shrewsbury, Gael Xavier Villalon and Lincoln Pennie Shrewsbury; a sister, Dora Thompson and husband, Roger; and two nephews, Michael Thompson and David Thompson.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Hillside Heights Rehabilitation Center for all their loving care given to Wade during his stay with them.
