John Alban Riedinger
1925-2016
John A. Riedinger, 91, of Amarillo died on Sunday, November 20, 2016. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Saint Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. H. E. Stephens officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors provided by Vollies for Veterans. Arrangements are under the directions of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Street.
John was born on April 14, 1925 in Girad, Kansas to John T. and Elsie M. Riedinger. He joined the United States Navy on July 20, 1943. He was an original member of the United States Naval Construction Forces known as a Seabee, serving during WWII. He was honorably discharged on February 2, 1946. John married Kathleen Frances Price on August 20, 1948 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He worked in the maintenance department as a grounds supervisor for the Veteran Administration in Leavenworth until his retirement. He and his wife moved to Amarillo in 1984. After Frances death, he later married Juanita Riedinger in Amarillo. He enjoyed his retirement years by building or remodeling the family home, gardening or bowling. John was an avid bowler where he bowled with several senior bowling leagues and he was most proud of the fact that he began bowling at the age of seventy. He was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Frances Riedinger and Juanita Riedinger, a sister, Geneva Kell, a brother, Albert Riedinger and a great grandson, Jude Voight.
John is survived by his children, John Riedinger and wife Margaret, Penny Wilson and husband Larry, Paul Riedinger and wife Tina, Shelly Seth and husband Daryl, Fred Riedinger and wife Lisa, Don Riedinger and wife Erin and Rob Riedinger; 28 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren.

Family will receive guests on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
