John Andrew Hinn was born November 15, 1959 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Robert and Patricia Hinn. As a child, his parents moved to Franklin Lakes, NJ, then Mexico City, Mexico and finally Plainview, TX where John grew up. While in Mexico City, John played on numerous championship baseball teams, including the national championship team of Mexico. John graduated from Plainview High School in 1977. He attended the University of Texas Arlington where he played baseball and was the number one draft recruit. He graduated from Texas Tech in business administration. John married Melanie Faulkner on January 1, 2011 here in Amarillo. He was an avid golfer and had many great friends that he golfed with regularly. He was involved in the management of car dealerships both in Plainview and Amarillo, where he resided the last ten years. John’s cancer journey taught him to rely fully of God and he demonstrated unrelenting faith, tenacity, strength and perseverance. His precious dog “Peaches” never left his side.
John was preceded in death by his father Robert Hinn
Survivors include his wife, Melanie Hinn of Amarillo, his sons, Nathan Hinn, Addison Hinn and Ben Cargo, all of Amarillo, his daughter, Hannah Cargo of Amarillo, his mother, Patricia Hinn Conway of Grove, OK, his two brothers, Michael Hinn of Grove, OK and Bob Hinn and wife Kim of Little Rock, AR and many nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved him very much.
