John Cecil Fritts, 84, passed away on December 26, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas. Cecil was born on September 24, 1939, to Alvin B. and Violet Molesworth Fritts in Amarillo, Texas.
Cecil was preceded in death by his wife Paulene Fritts, his parents, Alvin B. and Violet Fritts, and his nine older siblings. He is survived by his stepson Tim Garris and wife Connie, his grandchildren: Leticia (Randy) Mincher, Melissa (Melvin) Lowe, Natasha (Aaron) Gray, Nathan (Rachel) Garris, and his great-grandchildren: Marshall, Isaac, Siscely, Elijah, Colt, Mila, Lillian, Izabelle, Emma, and Benjamin.
Cecil attended Palo Duro High School and retired from Santa Fe Railroad after 32 years. He served in the U. S. Army from 1959-1962 and attended Second Baptist Church for 30 plus years. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, but he truly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They called him “Pawpaw” and he doted on them. He was a simple, yet very friendly man who loved his sweets and didn’t know a stranger. He would talk to anyone and was very outgoing.
