John Lowell Faulkner

December 25, 1958 — January 28, 2023

John Lowell Faulkner, 64, of Amarillo, TX, died Saturday, January 28, 2023. Memorial Services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 25, in the Chapel at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter St.

John was born in Lubbock, TX, to Eugene L. Faulkner and Kay L. Faulkner. John spent his early years in Albuquerque, NM, with his mother Kay L. Fulgenzi, his older brother, Stephen Faulkner, and his stepfather, John A. Fulgenzi.

John and his family moved to Amarillo, TX, in 1968 where John attended Belmar Elementary, Crocket Middle, and Amarillo High School, class of 1978. He later obtained his bachelor's degree with honors from West Texas A&M University in 2008.

John was a loving and treasured father, husband, son, and grandfather. He was united in marriage to his loving wife Joni on October 13, 2000, in Amarillo, TX. They treasured all 24 years of their lives together and shared a deep love and respect for one another.

John loved spending time with his family more than anything else on earth. He always put them first, was inclusive, supportive, and embraced by all those drawn to him. He treasured his weekend conversations and visits with his sons, Colton & Trevor Faulkner, and time with his new grand-baby Liam Faulkner who celebrated his first birthday within a few days after John passing.

John was loved by so many and made an impression on all he met. He was quick to lend an ear and offer heartfelt advice to those who asked. He prided himself on his ability to remain level-headed during heated conversations and discussions. So many friends and family were drawn to him for advice on how to best settle difficulties in their own personal lives or relationships. He had a calm, warm demeanor, and extraordinarily little appeared to ruffle his feathers during his day-to-day interactions with others.

John was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching and playing a variety sports. He enjoyed playing softball for Owens Corning during a good portion of his 37 year career there. As his children grew, he enjoyed watching them play football and run track. He loved the excitement and competition of watching and playing a good game.

He attended many hockey and baseball games with his family and friends. He enjoyed music, attending concerts and shows, movies with his wife and dining out as often as time allowed. He will be sorely missed by many.

John was preceded in death by his stepfather, John A. Fulgenzi, his father, Eugene L. Faulkner, his nephew Justin Faulkner, his father-in-law Dow Bryan DMD of Pensacola Beach, FL, and his sister-in-law Robin Vickrey of Pensacola Beach, FL.

Survivors include his wife, Joni Faulkner of Amarillo, TX, his son Colton Faulkner and grandson Liam Faulkner of Amarillo, TX, his son Trevor Faulkner of Amarillo, TX, his mother, Kay L.
