John Alonzo, 75 of Amarillo passed away on July 11, 2011.
Rosary will be at 7:00pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel at 1505 Martin Road.
Holy Mass will be at 2:00pm Thursday, July 14, 2011 at St. Laurence Catholic Church at 2300 N. Spring with Father Gabriel Garcia officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel.
John was born September 20, 1935 in Amarillo, Texas to Teodoro and Vicenza Alonzo. He was a devoted father and grandfather. John was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a bricklayer and construction worker for many years. He enjoyed socializing and cooking out with family and friends. John also enjoyed watching wrestling with the company of his dog "Chico". John was well-known and loved by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joe, Carlos and Antonio Alonzo.
His survivors include his loving wife and friend of 41 years Viola Lomas; three daughters, Irma Garcia, Norma Perea, Esmeralda Vazquez and husband Martin, all of Amarillo; five sons, Gus Lomas, Chris Lomas and wife Amy and Ramiro Lomas, all of Amarillo, Joel Lomas and wife Nancy of Little Elm, Texas and David Lomas of Carrolton, Texas. He is also survived by 25 Grandchildren and 19 Great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
