Joe Alfred Stone, 84, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Pastor Alan Stranglin of Central Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Joe was born August 20, 1930 and grew up in Brownfield, Texas. After serving in the army he returned to Brownfield where he married Jody Stone on March 20, 1956. He served as a Trooper in the Department of Public Safety for 30 years both in Harlingen, Texas until 1965 and Lamesa, Texas, where he retired in 1985. In 2005 he and Jody moved to Amarillo to be near family. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marion and Dessie Stone, wife Jody Stone, brothers Roy and Robert Stone, and a sister Marie Sullivan.
Survivors include sons, Michael Stone, Lonnie Stone, Richard and wife Lori Stone; three grandchildren, Jason, Joshua, and Anna Stone all of Amarillo; and a brother Byron Stone of Beaumont, Texas.
