Jimmy R. Silman of Amarillo was born October 31, 1933 in Putney, West Virginia to Charlie and
Iva Silman. Died May 18, 2022 in his home. Jimmy married the love of his life Elizabeth
Barnette on February 5, 1955 in Charleston, West Virginia. They were married for 62 years.
He was a man of many hats, and such a hard worker. He began working at Kings Restaurant at 10 years
old, later drove a taxi, drove a semi, worked for TWA, and GM. He retired from General Motors
in Vandalia, Ohio in 1990.
Jimmy loved the beach, GM cars, casinos, dancing, parties, gardening, collecting coins, guns,
and knives but most of all spending time with his family. He was loved by so many and will be
truly missed.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Delbert McCoy and Clarence McCoy, a
sister Maxine Silman, and Wife Elizabeth Silman.
Survived by son Keith Silman and wife Dora Silman of Amarillo, TX. , daughter Kathy Vance of
Albuquerque, NM, 2 grand daughters Keetha Skaggs and husband Duane Skaggs of Amarillo,
TX. , and Alicia Barber and husband David Barber of Amarillo, TX. , 5 great grandchildren, and
many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at LaGrone, Blackburn- Shaw at 8310 S. Coulter rd. Amarillo, TX
79119 on Tuesday May 24th at 2:00 in the afternoon.
