Jimmy F Hickey passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Graveside services are scheduled for 2pm, Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 3-5pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter chapel.
Jimmy was born on April 16, 1940, to Voyal Hickey and Maudine Jones in Glenwood, Arkansas. He graduated high school in Roswell, New Mexico. After high school, Jimmy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served from 1959 to 1965. He married Betty Kimmenau in 1962 and together they shared 22 years of marriage until she passed away in 1985.
Jimmy had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, often spending cherished moments camping and fishing at Lake Meredith, Lake McLellan, and occasionally Lake Greenbelt. A man of strong principles, he valued order and organization in all aspects of life. Known for his warm and open-hearted nature, Jimmy never considered anyone an enemy and was truly a friend to all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, strength, and friendship will be fondly remembered."
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Dion Hickey and wife, Pauline, Bill Hickey and Kim Lusk; his sisters, Homa King, Joann Rice and Zayla Neustral; his former life partner, Anna Tidewell; his grandchildren, Sky Hickey and wife, Jennifer, Tony Hickey and wife Liron, Christopher Lusk, Benjamin Lusk, Daniel Dia and wife Alison; his great-grandchildren, McKenna, Jace, Leah, Eli and Hudson.
