Jimmy Don Wade, 60, of Amarillo died on Thursday, December 22, 2016. Life Celebration will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Coulter Road Chapel with Shelly Thrasher and Jerry Beck officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.

Jim was born on May 3, 1956 in Amarillo to Kenneth and Shirley Wade. Jim graduated from Lubbock Coronado High School and received several technical degrees from South Plains College. Jim worked as the facilities director for Harrington Cancer Center for thirty six years. Jim was an excellent cook known for his smoking and grilling abilities in his outdoor kitchen. He had a great sense of humor who loved telling his own jokes and remembering funny thoughts from the past with his family. He loved to sing and play the guitar and enjoyed teaching his grandson Derc how to play the guitar. Jim loved to go camping in Colorado and to get the family together to play cards and dominoes and he could tell you what was in your hand so you might as well lay it down. As his grandsons got involved in sports, Jim became a huge Rangers, Cowboys and Red Raider fan. Not to be forgotten was JIm's love of Gunsmoke, Bonanza and Lonesome Dove but Jim loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kelly Wade and a sister, Debbie Crooks.

He is survived by his wife, April; two daughters, Amy Kellison and husband Corbin and Jenna Decker; three grandchildren, Parker Kellison, Derc Decker and Jax Decker and a grandchild on the way; two sisters, Peggy Sumner and Sharon Thompson and husband Michael and one brother, Rex Wade and wife Louise.

The family will be receiving friends from 3:00 - 4:30 pm on Monday, December 26, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter.
