Jimmie Flowers, age 81, of Amarillo passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel with Pastor Glen Walton officiating. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Military Honors are by DAV Chapter 26.
Jimmie Flowers was born on November 27, 1932 to Clyde and Ruby Flowers in Vernon, TX. He married the love of his life, Mary Helen on July 27, 1955 in Clovis, NM. Jimmie retired from the Army and proudly served his country in the Korean War. Jimmie also worked for Asarco and retired after 29 years of service. He loved to go camping and fishing at Greenbelt Lake and Sam Rayburn reservoir. He coached his sons in youth sports. Jimmie was his grandchildren's biggest fan and always attended their games going from field to field, but his greatest love was spending time with his family.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Doyce and Glen Dale and three sisters, Odessa Matthews, Leveta Matthews and Annie May Wilson.
He is survived by Mary Helen of the home; three daughters, Carol Cowan and husband Dennis, Linda Abbott and husband David and Glenda Clark and husband David, all of Amarillo; two sons, Jimmie Dale Flowers and fiance Kim of Amarillo and Gary Lee Flowers and wife Karla of Spearman; eleven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
