Jessie Mae Hansen, 90, of Amarillo died on Friday, March 18, 2016. Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.

Jessie was born on May 1, 1925 in Amherst, TX to Henry and Evel Rogers. She graduated from Petersburg High School and married the love of her life, Russell Hansen on June 30, 1945 in Petersburg. Jessie was a homemaker tasked with keeping up with two sons. She was very active in her church and was a youth leader in the Sunday school departments. She also worked at the Perkins Mission. Jessie loved to travel with her family and enjoyed the camping and fishing trips to Cimmaron Canyon in Northern New Mexico and also the trips to see family in North Dakota. She was a great cook who was known for her cherry pies and chocolate cakes, but most of all, Jessie loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russell, a brother, Arval Rogers, a sister, Lucille Rosen and a great grand daughter, Hannah Mae King.

She is survived by her two sons, Roger Hansen and wife Charlotte and Russell J. "Jim" Hansen Jr. and wife Lynn of Midland; five grandchildren, Deadra Stark and husband Alan, Heather King and husband Troy, Charee Hayes and husband Jody, Julie Pinson and husband Bryan and Blair Hansen and wife Cassie; nine great grandchildren, Colten and Caden Stark, Caleb and Carson King, Jonah and Zeke Hayes, Drew and Carly Pinson and Ainsley Hansen.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Faith City Mission, 401 SE 2nd Ave, Amarillo, TX 79101  or Cal Farley Boys Ranch, 600 SW 11th Ave, Amarillo, TX 79101.


The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 - 7:30 pm, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.
