Jerry Madrid, 55, of Amarillo died on Thursday, May 5, 2016. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Victory Church with Pastor Rosa Perea, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens. Arrangements by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S Coulter St.
Jerry was born on October 13, 1960 in Chama, New Mexico to Jose B. and Ruth Madrid. He grew up in New Mexico where he graduated from Escalante High School. He attended Southern Arizona Bible College in Hereford, Arizona. Jerry married Paula De Los Santos on July 26, 1986 in Sterling, Colorado. He worked as a bus driver for the head start program for YDI in New Mexico. Jerry was a member of Victory Church. He loved the great outdoors where he enjoyed camping and fishing. He also liked to sing where many times he would make up his own songs. He will be most remembered for his sense of humor and the ability to make anyone laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Sisto Madrid and Emilio Madrid, two sisters, Mary Madrid and Erma Greyeyes, his mother in law, Rosa De Los Santos and his sister in law, Delores Nuñez.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Madrid; adopted children, Manuel Nuñez, Solana Loera, and Rosa Nuñez; grandson, Kobe Loera; brothers, Baltazar Madrid, Johnny Madrid and his wife Naomi, Salamon Madrid, David Madrid, Joe Madrid, and his wife Rosemary, Louis Madrid and his wife Linda, and his twin brother, Jesse Madrid; sisters, Bernie Madrid, Julia Garcia and her husband, Tommy, Margaret Valdez and her husband, Tommy; sisters, in law Tessie Madrid and Leticia Lopez and her husband, Lupe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials to Victory Church at 6300 Arden Road, Amarillo, TX 79119.
Visitation will be held for family and friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, May 6, 2016 at the funeral home.
