Jerry Conway, 69, of Panhandle died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church of Panhandle with Roger Arnold and Mark Urquhart officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St.
Mr. Conway was born June 2, 1943, in Childress to Raymond Estelle Conway and Lou Edith Thompson Conway. He graduated from Lefors High School in 1964. Jerry married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Blair, on March 31, 1965, in Lefors. They had been longtime residents of Panhandle, where they raised their family.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Panhandle and Hillside Christian Church of Amarillo. Mr. Conway was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and simply being outdoors. Jerry was a charter member of Top-O-Texas Bass Masters tournament fishing club. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; stepmother, Mae Dell Boone McCain Conway; two sisters, Rama Lee Conway Rothwell and Pauline Conway Owens; and a brother, Ray Russell Conway.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two sons, Gary Jay Conway and wife Stacy of Panhandle and Wade Ray Conway and wife Stephanie of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; and two grandsons, William George Conway and Wyatt Blair Conway, both of Panhandle.
The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society or a cancer research organization of choice.
