Mrs. Jean Wesel, 74 of Amarillo passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel at 1505 Martin Road with Rev. Corky Holland officiating.
Jean was born on May 31, 1936 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Joseph Scott Ready and Jewel Russell Ready. She was very involved in church her whole life and was Baptized when she was 13. Her parents both taught Sunday school for many years. Jeane graduated from Amarillo High School in 1954 and attended Amarillo College. She married Rudolph Wesel on February 16, 1956 in Clovis. When her children were young she was very active in the PTA and the Scouts. She was a volunteer for the Literacy Council and the Good Samaritan Retirement Center. She was an avid genealogist and she also loved painting with oils and water colors. She was member of the Llano Estacado Chapter of the DAR and a member of the daughters of the American Confederacy. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all.
She is survived by her husband Rudolph, two sons; Rudolph John Wesel, III of Dallas and Joseph Scott Wesel and wife Bonnie of Amarillo, three grandsons; Thomas Harold Lambert, Stephen Thomas Wesel and wife Candice and Joshua Caleb Wesel all of Amarillo, three great-grandchildren; Emily Jean Wesel, Caleb Thomas Wesel and Thomas Scott Lambert. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and close friends.
