James "Jim" Lee White

James Lee (Jim) White, 65, of Canyon, passed away on November 26, 2022.    Jim was born on January 24, 1957 to Joe Dale White and Roberta Lee (Bobbie) White in Austin, Texas.   The family moved back to Canyon in 1958 and he graduated from Canyon High School in 1975.   Jim’s favorite hobby as a child was breaking things apart to see how they worked.   From those early days of tinkering, he used that as the basis for his career as an adult -- building and repairing electronic equipment.  He started out at Texas Instruments in Lubbock building computers.  From there he went on to climbing radio towers, repairing police radios, as well as other electronics-related jobs over the years.  He married Connie Ormsby of Canyon and they resided in Canyon and Amarillo for the remainder of his life.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother.  Survivors include his wife Connie, his father Joe, his sister Jo Ann Withers and husband Mike, nephews Ian Withers and Patrick Withers, Connie’s children Matt Sandoval of Amarillo and Billie Jean Becker and family of Muenster, as well as an aunt and several cousins.  He also has several lifelong friends that he considered family including Don Collins and Jerry Deitz.
