James"Jim" Arthur Rember

James "Jim" Arthur Rember, 76, of Amarillo died Monday, March 28, 2011.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Jim was born Sept. 10, 1934, in Kasoma, Okla., to James "Shine" and Emma Rember. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Aug. 2, 1955, faithfully serving his country until his honorable discharge on Oct. 5, 1956. He then enlisted in the Reserves, serving until August 1963.

Jim married Ruth Baldwin on July 25, 1975, in Fort Collins, Colo. He attended TV and radio school before his employment as an elevator mechanic for Continental Elevators, where he retired on May 1, 1997. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a lifetime member of the Shriners.

The family would like to express a special thanks to and suggests memorials to BSA Hospice of Amarillo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tommy Rember; and a grandson, Daniel Justin Rember.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Rember; two daughters, Katrenka Rember of Portland, Ore., and Belinda "Kay" George and husband Ray of Sultan, Wash.; a son, Steven Harlow and wife Melinda of Amarillo; a sister, Jane Houston of Oklahoma City; a brother, Doyle Rember of Lilerun, Ga.,; and a grandson, Johnathon Harlow of Amarillo.

The family will gather for a reception following the burial at the funeral home.
