Visitation will be held 4-7 pm Friday, January 7, 2022 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held for James “Weldon” Mansfield at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Smith officiating. A private graveside service will be held prior to service.
James “Weldon” Mansfield of Amarillo passed away at his home January 2, 2022.
Weldon was born January 30, 1932 in Weinert, TX to Marvin Herschel and Ethel Elizabeth Reeves Mansfield. He graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Weldon married Ruth E. Hill, of Littlefield, TX, in 1952. He taught agriculture at Tulia High School and had various business endeavors. Weldon loved hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening and reading to his children and grandchildren. He was also a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church.
Weldon is preceded in death by his son, Bentley Mansfield.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his daughter, Zoe Doan and husband Paul; his son, Lyndol Mansfield and wife Barbara; his grandchildren, David Doan and wife Katie, Melissa Niccum and husband Brandon, Micah Mansfield and wife Emily, Patrick Doan and Megan Mansfield; his great grandchildren, Adriann Martin and husband Hayden, Layla Doan, Slayton Niccum, Joplin Doan and Halston Niccum.
Memorials will be to St. Stephen United Methodist Church, American Bible Society or Charity of your choice.
