James Michael MacVaugh
June 2, 1952 - August 1, 2015
James Michael MacVaugh, 63, of Amarillo, died on Saturday, August 1, 2015. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, August 7, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S Coulter Road with Deacon Jim Brown, officiating. Military honors will be provided by Volleys for Veterans, Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S Coulter Road.
James was born on June 2, 1952 and raised in Gloucester City, NJ. As a young boy, he enjoyed playing basketball and stick ball. At the age of 19, he joined the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran and served his country proudly. James moved with his family to Houston, Texas where he worked for Exxon delivering gasoline. He also was a Captain of the Cypress Creek Volunteer Fire Department in Houston. He married Belinda Joyce Nagle on May 17, 1985 in Houston, Texas. They moved to Amarillo, Texas in 2006 where he worked for Siemen's Wind Farms as an inventory specialist and was fondly known as Pappy.. James followed the Catholic faith attending St. Thomas Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Belinda, parents, Kennard MacVaugh and Mary Ruth (McNaulty) MacVaugh, a brother, SGM (ret.) Kennard B. MacVaugh, three sisters, Mary Jane Fuester, Patricia Grant (Howard), Marguerite Debus, baby MacVaugh, and brother in law, Mike G. Nagle .
Survivors include sons, Scott MacVaugh, San Antonio, and Ted MacVaugh, Boys Ranch; daughter/niece, Lisa Debus, Gloucester City, NJ; brother in law, Roger Fuester, sister in law, Anna May MacVaugh; nieces, Robin Marks (Bruce), and Kelly Schenberger; nephews, Ralph Marquis, James Debus (Kathy), John Debus (Rhonda), Richard Fuester, Kennard MacVaugh II (Raegan), and James MacVaugh (Carol); father in law and mother in law, Charles J., Jr. and Shirley Nagle, Kempner; brothers in law, James Nagle, Country Salquist,, Eric Salquist, and Jeff Nagle (Sherri Wilson), sisters in law, Debbie Sharp, and Polly Nagle.
