James Alex Kerek of Amarillo died on April 11, 2015. Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, April 17, 2015, at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road with Pastor Sherman Eastland of Gentiva Hospice officiating. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
James was born on July 2, 1938 in Hammond, LA to Alexander and Helen Kerek. He was a pipefitter/welder for the local union in Amarillo and loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie, his father and a daughter, Anna Marie.
He is survived by his mother, Helen of Hammond, LA; two daughters, Melisa Earp and husband Wyatt of Jacksonville, ARK and Karen Burkes of San Antonio; a son, James Kerek Jr. of Amarillo and a sister, Eileen Stambaugh of Tecumseh, MI and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
