James "Jimmy" Harold Hill, age 74, of Wheeler passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 10:00 am at United Methodist Church in Wheeler with Rev. Matt Gary, pastor officiating.

Jimmy was born in Wheeler on February 25, 1940 to George Harold and Esther (Wood) Hill. Jimmy graduated from Wheeler High School and met and married the love of his life Bobbye Carol (Adams) Hill, March 23, 1962. Together they enjoyed traveling and family activities.

Jimmy was active in many civic affairs including having served on the Wheeler City Council for 14 years, as a Director for First State Bank of Mobeetie for 25 years and the Wheeler Chamber of Commerce. He was the Wheeler Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year 2009. Jimmy worked for Phillips Petroleum for 15 years before moving back to Wheeler in 1978 where he ranched and farmed until 2008.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Wayne Hill, and a granddaughter Courtney Tyree.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 52 years Bobbye Hill of Wheeler, one son Chip and wife Pam Hill of Wheeler, two daughters Melissa and husband Rick Schooler of Amarillo and Sonya and husband Thomas Tyree of Wayside. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren Meredith Soleyjacks and RJ of Amarillo, Ethan Tyree of Wheeler, Mackenzie Schooler of Amarillo, Katie  Hill of Austin, Kara Hill and Kylie Hill of Wheeler and Orin Tyree of Wayside and one great granddaughter, Camriel Carol Soleyjacks.
