Coach Jay W. Harris, 71, of Amarillo died on Friday, May 19, 2017. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, May 22, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Estelline, Texas. Burial will follow in Rose Cemetery at 3:00 pm in Hobart, Oklahoma. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.

Coach Jay W. Harris was born on February 4, 1946 in Hobart, OK to Clifford and Leeta Bell Harris. Coach attended Oklahoma State University where he received his Masters Degree in Education. Coach married Pearlie Harris on February 14, 1996 in Falfurrias, TX. Coach Jay W. Harris coached golf and basketball for over twenty years, also was an educator in Memphis, Mission and Falfurrias, TX. Coach Jay W. Harris' golf team were State Champions in 1993 and he assisted with the 1991 Football State Champions in Memphis. Coach loved to play golf. Coach also loved to eat Pearlie's home cooking.

He is survived by his wife, Pearlie; two daughters, Natalie Brown and Renee; four sons, Jay L. Runnels, Brent, Joseph and Eddie Harris; two sisters, Leeta Gayle, Dee Butler; two brothers, Dennis and Frank Harris; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
