Memorial Service will be 10AM Monday May 13, 2013 at First Baptist Church in the chapel. Dr. Howard Batson officiating. Arrangements by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors 8310 S. Coulter Amarillo, Texas 79119.
His visitation will be from 4:00 – 5:00pm Sunday May 12, 2013 at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.
John Wilbur (J.W.) Tomes was born February 9, 1930 in Amherst, Texas. He graduated from Amherst High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University. He married Wilma in 1948; they were married 63 years at the time of his death. He was employed for 38 years by Pantex Plant, serving as manager of the Accident Response Group. J. W. passed away May 9, 2013 at 83 years of age.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, and by two brothers, Gerald and Keith.
J.W. is survived by his wife, Wilma, and five children: Brian, Debra, Shirley, Aaron, and Alan. Ten grandchildren: Charlotte, Ginger, J.D., Jake, Joshua, Adam, W. Aaron, Grace, Joy, and Josiah. Three great-grandchildren: Noah, Colin, and Logan.
