Ismael "Smiley" Gallegos, 56 of Amarillo passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2011. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel.
Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road Amarillo, TX. with Rufus Rocha officiating. Viewing will begin at Noon on Sunday at the Martin Road Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be at 3:00PM on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 1210 SE 11th Avenue in Amarillo, TX with Father Jose Gomez as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery East.
Ismael “Smiley” Gallegos was born in Amarillo on June 15, 1955 to Jesus Gallegos and Hilda Guzman. He was raised in Amarillo and worked many years in the construction business, taking pride in his concrete work. He was given his nickname, “Smiley” at a young age and it carried through all of his life. He loved to play pool and listen to all kinds of music. He loved getting together with all of his family and the get-togethers will never be the same without him. He had such a special love for his nephews and nieces and was a very kind-hearted man. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for many years. “Smiley” will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Alex Gallegos and a niece, Alicia Alcala.
His survivors include his three brothers, Jesse Gallegos and wife Betty, Ricky Gallegos, and Greg Guzman and wife Teri. Three sisters, Maricela DeLosReyes, Avelia Alcala, and Librada Tenorio. His nephew, Andy Medellin; and many other loving nieces and nephews.
The Family will gather at 2209 SE 22nd in Amarillo.
