Imogene Harris Day, 88 of Amarillo passed away on August 26, 2011. Her Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Monday, August 29, 2011 in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Rd., with Mr. Glen Walton officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Mrs. Day was born and raised in Briscoe Co. She had been a resident of Amarillo for over 40 years. Imogene worked as a Sales Clerk for many years for several different firms, including; Woolworths and the Hospital in Clovis, NM. She was also a Head Start teacher for many years. She was an excellent cook and was known for her pastries. She loved quilting, sewing and other handicrafts. Mrs. Day was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, RL Day, her son, Bill Barclay and her daughter, Shirley Harp.
Her survivors include a daughter, Christina Saxelby and husband Robert of Austin; a son, Ray Barclay of Amarillo; a sister, Margaret Murdock of Amarillo; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the American Heart Assoc.
