Imogene Brown Polite, 82, passed away Saturday, February 8th, 2020.

Memorial Service for Mrs. Polite will be on Saturday, February 15th, 2020 at 2:00 PM at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home Chapel,  1505 Martin Road.

Imogene was born on October 9th, 1937 in Jasper, Texas to Oscar and Minnie Brown.  She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in Jasper, Texas and accepted Christ at an early age.  The family later moved to Amarillo in 1955.

Mrs. Polite was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She loved to cook and was well- known for her famous cornbread dressing and homemade cakes.  Her joy in life was spending time with her daughters going to Furr’s cafeteria to celebrate any special occasion.  She loved sewing, crocheting, playing the organ, and listening to music.   She enjoyed spending time with her daughters playing “Tripoley” with pennies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 51 years Earven N. Polite, Sr., 2 sisters Kathy Wells and Minnette Brown, 1 brother Ira Brown, a great-great granddaughter Harmonie Polite and a great-great grandson Quinton Crossland, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories 1 Brother John L. Brown of Amarillo; 7 Daughters  Virginia Hamilton (Clellray), Doris Jackson, Beverly Polite, Thelma Polite all of Amarillo,  Judy Polite of Arlington,  Yvette Polite of Guthrie, Oklahoma and Bertha Owens (Allison) of Clarksville, Texas and a special niece which she claimed as her child Gwendolyn Davis of Lubbock; 5 sons; Roy Polite and Christopher Polite of Amarillo; Earven Polite of Oklahoma City; Edward Polite (Sherry) of Lubbock and Anthony Polite of Plainview; 36 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Polite will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
