Hunter G. Harris, 94, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Monday, May 5, 2014 at First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Reed Redus, Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Llano East Cemetery.  Arrangements by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Rd.

Mr. Harris was born in Fairfield, VA. on September 12, 1919.  He married Ruth Pugh in 1943 and they shared 62 years of marriage until her death in 2005.  He served his country in the US Air Force, retiring as Senior Master Sargent in 1961 after more than two decades of service including WW II.  Mr. Harris then worked for the Tri-State Fair Association before joining the Texas Employment Commission, where he worked for seventeen years before retiring as a state employee.  He had lived in Amarillo since 1951 and attended First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son Ken Harris and wife June of Houston, brother Carl E. Harris of Vinton, VA and grandchildren Zachary Harris and wife Kassie and Elizabeth Harris, all of Houston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Northwest Texas Hospital.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 4:30 to 5:30pm at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 Coulter Rd.
