Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 16 at Seville Estates Assisted Living Center, located at 7404 Seville Drive, with Sherman Eastland, Chaplain of Odyssey Hospice officiating.
Homer was born on June 16, 1931 in Fort Worth, Texas to Homer and Sadie Estes. He moved with his parents to Amarillo in 1948. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1950 and then attended Amarillo College for 2 years. He began employment with his father at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and worked in many positions throughout the company. He also worked as an independent contractor installing telephone equipment in the central offices in 81 towns, 16 states and Puerto Rico. They owned MUZAK, a franchise company in Amarillo. He was a private pilot, had a special interest in body building and auto mechanics and the stock market. He loved to read and share his books with friends and loved to sit in coffee shops and talk with people.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his family, Curtis and Janie Smith and their children, Sarah, Allison, Barrett and Aubrey; grandchildren, Riley, Chloe and Logan; special friend, Lilly Camden and the entire staff and many friends at Seville Estates Assisted Living Center.
