Henry S. Alonzo 82 of Amarillo, died on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 25, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Chapel with Deacon Andy Gonzalez, officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Jose Gomez as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S Coulter Road.
Henry was born on February 13, 1933 in Amarillo, Texas to Miguel and Serapia Alonzo. He graduated from Price College in 1954. After graduation he was drafted into the United States Army where he served his country honorably for two years. Henry married Eva Guerrero on December 30, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas. They made Amarillo their home where he worked as a baker at the Amarillo Club for over 20 years and later he worked for the AISD before retiring in January 1995.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eva; his brothers, Jesse Alonzo, Dolores Alonzo and Paul Alonzo; and a sister Angelita Gutierrez.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathy Haynes; a grandson, Jacob Haynes; a brother, Andrew Alonzo, all of Amarillo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the funeral home.
